Brendan Connelly is a composer and sound designer of theater, dance, performance-installation and film. In 1998, he co-founded the Obie-award winning theater company The Two-headed Calf along with director Brooke O’Harra, and has composed scores for all of its productions. He also has an ongoing collaboration with PearlDamour, having creted the sound and music for MILTON, HOW TO BUILD A FOREST and LOST IN THE MEADOW. His work has been seen/heard at La MaMa, E.T.C., PS 122, the HERE Arts Center, Soho Rep, Ontological-Hysteric Theater, LAByrinth Theater, JACK, the Perishable Theater, the CAC (New Orleans) and other great spaces.
He has worked with inspiring directors such as Anne Kaufmann, Pam MacKinnon, Suzan-Lori Parks, Seth Bockley, Roger Babb, Gisela Cardenas, Ian Belton and David Levine.
His music has been performed by ensembles such as Yarn/Wire, S.E.M. Ensemble, Wet Ink, Hunter-Gatherer and Timetable Percussion. He has received numerous Meet-The-Composer grants, NYSCA composer commissions and was a participant in the TCG/NEA Career Development Program in Sound Design. Brendan received his MFA from Bard College.
